The Edinburgh Airport Casper Noise and Track System (NTK) is a state of the art monitoring system that is specifically designed as an intuitive system for noise and aircraft track analysis. In developing the system, close attention has been paid to easing analysis and reporting, in order to improve the quality and efficiency of communication to all stakeholders.
Noise & Track System
The noise and track system allows members of the public to access information on Edinburgh Airports 5 year Noise Action Plan (NAP), Insulation and Vortex schemes and noise complaint reports in addition to lots of other useful information.
As well as improved analysis and reporting, the online tool allows members of the public to download information and reports, check aircraft noise levels and flight specific information such as flight position and altitude using our own radar data. The Flight Tracker software also allows you to submit enquiries about a specific aircraft directly to the airport’s noise team who try to respond to complaints within 8 days.

Our noise monitors are located at fixed noise monitoring positions in Livingston, Broxburn, Cramond Manse and Cramond Primary School.
They are located in these positions based on the recommendations given within a detailed scientific study which was carried out by the CAA for the Department of Transport. This study was carried out to ensure that the major London airports positioned their noise monitors in locations that would ensure consistent and accurate noise measurements could be obtained.
Edinburgh Airport follows this guidance as do other major airports in the UK, including Gatwick, Heathrow, Stanstead, Birmingham and Glasgow airports amongst others.
